What the heck is cyclical living?

Cyclical living is the practice of living in tune with your menstrual cycle.

Our menstrual cycles and our hormones are so intertwined and rooted within our bodies that they affect just about everything about us, from our productivity and emotions to our appetite and energy levels. Many of us were never taught this lifestyle, how our bodies actually work or how we can connect with our superpowers and strengths within our natural cycles.

Cyclical living dives into the patterns that arise when you pay attention to your month-to-month activities, emotions and interactions, and guides you through structuring your life around these shifts.

Growing up, I often heard that women or folks with uteruses were the unpredictable sex. We have mood swings, PMS, and gross periods… and honestly, I would have agreed with them. I often didn’t feel in control of my own moods and I struggled with figuring out who I was in relation to these varying feelings.

But, FUN FACT, women and folks with uteruses actually are the more predictable sex. Our hormones do the exact same song and dance every single month. Estrogen rolls in, testosterone spikes around ovulation, then both drop off to leave room for good ol’ progesterone. Isn’t that amazing?!

Me just casually thrilled about cyclical living (seriously, I am this smiley when talking about it).

When you track your menstrual cycle and chart your daily symptoms, you’ll begin to see patterns after about three months. Even people who don’t currently have natural cycles (whether they’re menopausal, pregnant/ breastfeeding or on hormonal birth control) can chart their fluctuating symptoms by using the lunar cycle as a framework.

Cyclical living connects with every aspect of our being. I think it’s so freaking cool, don’t you?

If you’re looking to learn more, I hosted a lecture on how to chart your cycle that you can watch for free here. Leave a comment and let me know what you think!
